I watched my little sister give birth, and that sight solidified my lack of desire to have children Besides being mortified of going through labor, there are some other reasons I don't want kids. I am a grown-up but I don't think I'll ever feel capable of handling as much responsibility that having a kid requires. I also don't want to pass on some of the more unsavory genetic traits that I might pass on. I really like kids, and have fun playing with them, but I am not nor could I be much of a disciplinarian. I spoil my niece and pretty much let her get away with everything. While I think it's ok for a kid to have a laid back aunt, I don't think it's necessarily a great quality in a parent. I also don't believe in having kids if you are not emotionally and financially prepared to take care of them properly. Hopefully I would be financially prepared one day, but I don't know that I'll ever be emotionally prepared.
